How do you start building a business on Instagram? The first thing you ought to do is, you capture the attention of your target market and convince them to follow your page. Once you have created a great number of followers, you start creating content that must be very engaging for your followers to talk about. This is the tricky part. How do we make our content engaging? Especially using IG Stories.
Have you ever experience posting a story in IG thinking it is so cool but getting 0 engagements? We’ve all been there. So I’ll be sharing you some tips on how I have overcome this challenge and started getting a boost in my engagements organically.
Create a Storyboard – when we create our marketing plan, everything should be organized. Same with our IG Stories, we want to organize our thoughts, our creative ideas before turning it into reality. Once we visualize and have an initial look at our stories, we will be able to see if our followers would most likely engage in our content.
Creating a storyboard is somehow crucial at first but once you get the hang of it, it would be very helpful. In this stage, you’ll see the purpose of what you’re doing and it will be easier for you to determine if what you are doing is aligned with your brand values.
Tell A Story – This IG Stories feature is called that for a reason. IG is known for its curated feed and all, so for your IG Stories people are expecting to know the real part of the business. Post real-time, maximize the sound and captions in your stories. Use funny filters and stickers if you must. Make sure to tell a story, something with a start, middle and an end or use a hook that will encourage your audience to ask for more!
Use Stickers – using of poll and question stickers. It works in boosting engagement organically. Just make sure that your poll and question is related to your business, or something about a common interest of your target market.
Screenshot-able – I think during this quarantine period, the trend in IG Stories is making it screenshot-able by creating games that your followers can share too. Creating a common interest bingo or a list of their favorite thing about your brand
Highlights – Make sure to maximize using of your story highlights. The highlight covers are some of the things you can curate in IG Story. Make sure it’s too pretty to gain enough attention not only to your existing followers but also to those audiences who are just checking you out. This would help in capturing the attention of your non-followers.
And there you go, those are the 5 things I believe will help in increasing your engagements in IG Story. Try it and let me know how it works for you. Always remember that the trick in marketing is not doing a hard-sell but telling it as a story and making your audience believe that what you’re offering is essential to their everyday life.
